I just got a new M900 Toshiba Protege laptop last Nov. 19, 2010. This was assigned to me by my employer. Below are the specifications :

I am blessed that i got this new laptop. 6 months ago, i purchased a Lenovo laptop, now, i have another laptop. I’m thinking of selling my Lenovo laptop soon as i will have no use for it.

On another thought, I am only new in this company and I was issued a new laptop. My other officemates, even my boss, who is currently employed here for years were only issued 2nd hand units.

I have another project in mind. Its an inventory system for the business of my mom. I already relayed the idea to my mom and she liked it. We’re trying to schedule a meeting regarding this project to discuss its details but haven’t find the time. My mom lives in the province so its hard to meetup and discuss this project. Usually, when we meetup, we try to catch up on personal matters more than business matters.

Bought this iPhone Clone(model H003) at one of the stores in Rizal ave., Carriedo LRT Station, Manila. I will give it to my wife coz she wants a dual sim phone with tv that does not cost much. Its a copy of iPhone 3G. The package includes a box, charger, battery(1 day life) , headset and manual. The features that we really need on this phone are the following : Dual Sim, Tv and that its a phone. This is worth P2,500. The touch feature is not that responsive even if we already used its calibration features. Well, nothing compares to the original iPhone. This is good as a backup phone.

Posing a Threat?

Another day at the office. We had a meeting yesterday about a new recruit from another department. Our manager introduced us to the new recruit as we’ll be closely coordinating with her regarding procedures and other tasks. It got me thinking of something…will this new recruit be a threat to my current position? First, there were only the two of us in this position, now we are three. Do i need to compete? What for, a higher position or a better pay?

The American Dream

I have a friend who’s working in the US right now. She was assigned there to work, a rank and file position, for a year. Her contract ends by January next year. In that time span, she plans to buy a house or condo unit and a car(Honda CRV). She have plans to buy us a watches, perfumes, and bags. Moreover, she gets to travel nearby states. Is that how easy money comes in if you work in the US?

In my 10 years of working here in Manila, i’m still tight fisted when it comes to spending money. I need to be tight fisted so that i could buy the things that i wanted. Currently i have a monthly mortage(for 15 years) for our house. It took me 8 years for me to buy a second-hand car.

It makes me think of working there too. Is it worth the sacrifice, being lonely and all, even if its a call/webcam away?

Many Filipinos work on other countries to get better pay. For example, a 2 year experienced programmer is worth 20,000-25,000 pesos per month. If that programmer worked in the US, he/she can get a a salary ranging from 2,500 to 4,500 dollars per month, wich is 107,500 to 193,500 per month. Thats a lot to spend here on Manila!
